Last week I managed to finish another great looking pair of socks - I'm calling them the "Purple Pinstripe Knock-Offs"... since they're similar to the "Pinstripe" free pattern on Ravelry. I haven't actually looked at the pattern, but saw many many of them go by in the Addicted to Sock Knitting group on Facebook in the last few months. I had planned on just doing these ones plain, but then when it came time to switch from Ribbing to the leg I thought - what the Heck! Be adventurous, and decided to throw in a column of slipped stitches for fun. I'm not sure if it's the way the Pinstripe Pattern did it, but I do like the way it looks!
- Composed on the fly... Twisted Rib 1x1 Cuff, Slipped-stitch column every 8 stitches around, Simple Slipped-stitch Gusset Heel.
- Knit Picks Hawthorne (oops! I threw out the ball band!)

April was another busy month, but I still managed to finish another pair of completely plain socks. I've been following along with Heatherly Walker's year of socks with the group, but unfortunately my brain power has been limited due to lack of sleep. PLAIN SOCKS IT IS.
This time, I decided to work a pair in my own plain sock pattern. I've knit enough pairs of socks now that I don't really have to think. My favorite structure is top-down, twisted rib cuff, slipped stitch gusset heel, plain toes. I'm a simple gal. These fit well, are easy on the head, and make for excellent mindless knitting.
Knit Picks Stroll - Handpainted in "Pony Ride" a nice grey, caramel, brown multicolored skein. (it makes me think of Calico Kitties)

I'm so behind... my life has been pretty hectic! I started back to work at my full time job after a year of maternity leave, and I'm just starting to get caught back up on everything. The one constant - if I don't get to be creative, I go a little stir crazy! So now I'm going to try and catch you all up on the finished projects from the last few months, and hopefully I'll be able to keep a handle on what's going on a little better now that I spend part of my day on an actual computer!
Back in March, I finished a lovely little pair of purple socks for a friend! These ended up in my Snobby-Spinners-Swap package for Caryn! This group is full of wonderful, supportive, fun spinners/weavers/knitters who love working with indy dyers and fancy wools and yarns. They make fantastic stuff, and I'm so lucky to be a part of their group. Caryn and I drew each others' names and I decided to knit her socks, since that's what I'm good at.
The pattern is "Johnson's Wave" by Claire Ellen... one of my favorite sock designers... and is available as a free pattern over on Rav. I chose workhorse yarn... Knitpicks Stroll in Sprinkle Heather. Together the two made a nice, machine washable, comfortable pair of socks :)
