Yarn Candy Monday: Purplelicious 3-Ply!

MataHari Batts 1It's a veritable Purple-palooza of Purpleness!  I finished this skein a little while ago, but because it was enroute to it's owner's home, I couldn't show photos... for fear of ruining the surprise!  This yarn began it's life as a Corgi Hill Batt... which was then purchased by a lovely knitter/spinner, who wasn't sure she could spin the yarn she wanted from it... so it got mailed to *Me* and I had the pleasure of whipping it into skein form :)

The journey was a very fun one too :)  This was my first time using a Corgi Hill Product (though I've been checking them out and drooling over their goodies for some time now...) and it definitely won't be my last!  The merino, silk, firestar blend was just too much fun!  The finished product was a little bit more sparkly than I would have liked for myself, but it sounds like the yarn will be just perfect for what the client had in mind.

Since I had a set of stitch markers that matched so closely (and I rarely use markers, as of yet anyways)  I decided to send them along :)  It's fun to knit with matching accessories...

I can't wait to see what she makes from it!

Yarn Candy Monday: Corgi Hill Farm Batts!

11. October 2010 11:08 by Jobo | 0 Comments

MataHari Batts 1

Purple-licious!  These lovely poofy, sparkly, smooth, rolled up batts are "Mata Hari" a blend of Drum Carded Merino, Silk and Firestar from Corgi Hill Farm....

I showed zero willpower. I began to spin immediately.

A friend over at All for Love of Yarn asked me to spin these batts up for her in exchange for some yummy hand dyed yarn!  One look at the photos she sent and I knew that I wanted to spin this... and the batts are even more beautiful in person.

I have 5.4 oz to play with... and am aiming for DK weight 3-ply

:)

Yarn Candy Monday: Dream in Color Smooshy....

I have wanted to try this yarn for a while now... and I finally gave in!  Here it is in all it's glory... and this stuff is definitely as "Smooshy" as the title says :)  I can see why everyone makes such a fuss over this yarn, the colors are so vivid they just seem to jump off of the skein.  Although with the shipping this is a little pricey, I can see why people choose to use it for projects like sweaters and shawls... I can't imagine making something from this and then covering it up completely.  I'm sure it will make great socks, but that mossy green is so rich and true that I think it will need to be the centerpiece of an outfit all on it's own.   Top:  Shiny Moss.  Bottom: Ruby River
