Badness and Fur...

That's what little Boys Bunnies are made of! Ruttiger was being extra cute this week... so I decided it was time for more bunny photos.

He is a big boy bunny now, at 15 weeks.  He has started shedding his baby coat, and has been receiving a lot of extra grooming lately to keep that loose fur from flying all over the place and matting up.  It's tough to keep the extra fine baby coat in shape... I'm hoping that the texture of the adult coat will be a little easier to manage.  Meanwhile, I'll have to continue the serious brushing every second day with the hopes of keeping the level of matting down, and preventing wool block!

Hi there everyBunny!

Here I am with my yummy pellets... or as Mommy calls them "kibbles"  Either way this things are mega tasty!

If I act all cute and fuzzy (as if I really have to try hard) Mommy will pick me up and let me eat the kibbles out of her hand while I sit on her knee and get my ears and shoulders rubbed.  When I need a break from grooming, I just put up my paws and pretend that I want to snuggle with her, and she puts the yucky metal "comb" thingy down and coos to me and hugs me.  If I keep practicing I think I can train her just right!

Ionestly, I think I have these silly humans all figured out... I just have to act the Cute and they feed me the Tastys!  Daddy loves to feed me carrots and pineapple... and he gives bigger portions than Mommy does.

Plus he does tricks for me! I have him trained to give me treats if I run back and forth through the tube, or jump on a box, or raise up and pretend to beg on my hind quarters.  Sheesh... Humans are smarter than I thought they were!  It has only taken a few sessions and I have him trained almost perfectly!

Anyways... I think I wanna go chew on my apple branch that my Mom left in my cage.  More Later -

P.S. Yes, I know I am the best little Fuzzy Boy... Mommy tells me so all the time!  I'm not sure what she means when she calls me "spoiled" though... I'll have to look that up someday...

The babies are 4 weeks old now... and I went for another visit.  This time Marky came with me, to finally meet the little fuzzballs :)

all 5 bunnies

As you can see...  they have grown quite a bit!  Actually around tripled in size.  Their fur has grown almost an inch since the last time I had seen them, and the color of the coats is quite a lot more obvious now.  Three of the grey ones are clearly "Blue" in color, and look almost identical, and one is a lighter grey which is a bit of a mystery.  If any of you out there are talented enough to be able to identify English Angora colors, please feel free to educate me!  Is this "Torte" or "Lilac"?

heya broThe bunny family is very cuddly, and likes to be close together.  It was very rare for one of the kits to stray off on his/her own, and in fact they often laid right on top of one another, or at the very least, nestled right in next to a brother or sister.  They groomed each other, and nuzzled up against each other.  Each and every one liked being handled and picked up, even by us strangers.

Today we learned a bit more about the sex of the babies too!  The white princess is a doe, the lightest grey is a buck, and there are 2 does and a buck in the darker grey color.  I am still leaning towards getting a buck so this leaves me with the option of either the light or dark grey... how in the world will I choose one!  They are ridiculously cute.

I am so surprised at just how calm and docile this breed of rabbit is.  The five of them just hung out on the little table just wiggling their little noses and checking out their surroundings.  I managed to hold each one, got groomed by basically each one, and giggled like a little girl.  You don't know how much restraint it took to not shove a couple of these little guys in my purse!  I'm sure at least 2, maybe 3 would have fit in there... at LEAST.

mark and ruttigerThe little babes were so relaxed, they laid out with their little feet splayed out behind... and snuzzled up next to their bunny siblings.  As if the little ears weren't cute enough... that little white bunny Bum is Priceless!  And you thought human baby feet were cute... bunny toes?  seriously.  nom nom nom.

And Perhaps you wonder why there are only 4 bunnies in the photo above?  Where did the little light grey fella go?  Did he run away?  is he lost somewhere?  Nope.  See who has him?  Yes, in fact, that is the man who thought that getting a rabbit was a pointless and arbitrary idea.  Funny, they both of them look pretty happy... see the little mischievous grin on both their faces?  I have a feeling the two of them will have fun ganging up on me in the very near future..

Ruttiger... The baby is growing!

A friend and I went to visit the baby wabbits up at the farm last weekend... sorry it took so long to share the photos!

These little furbabies are English Angora rabbits... one of whom I will be adopting around the first of July!  The litter had 6 little ones - the runt didn't make it... so there are 5 babies peeping around the nest box.  The breeders want to keep the white one, and there are 4 other grey ones for me to choose from.  At this point since they are so small yet, and their coats are still growing in, it is still impossible to know what they will look like as adults.  Two of the grey babies are light in color, and the other two are slightly darker.

I know it's hard to see much in the nest... with all of the hay and soft fluffy angora!  The bunnies seem very happy in there, and nice and warm.  Their eyes are just starting to open at this point, and they are starting to wander around a little bit

ruttiger  <--  This little guy kept poking his little wiggly nose out of the box to sniff the springtime air and check out the lawn.

I think the babies must have recently fed, because their little bellies were round and full and warm.  They didn't seem to mind being held at all, and their Mom "Reba" was not upset by the fact that were were handling them either.  This is her second litter of kits since Melvin and Lorraine got their pair.

The mother is a Blue English Angora, lovingly named Reba after the country singer Reba MacIntyre, and the father is a Tort named Tim, for another country superstar of course, Tim McGraw.  They are as attractive a couple in fur-form as they would be in real life :P

For someone who doesn't want a rabbit... my Friend S was getting pretty cozy with a little grey one!  I think there might be another rabbit lover in the making here!

I was so excited about petting and holding the little guys that I almost forgot to take any photos!  In fact I went back to the car about halfway through the visit to get it, after having forgotten completely that I had promised to show pictures!

Happy Friday!
