I had an interesting experience on Wednesday evening... and I must say, receiving Star Treatment is kind of fun once in a while! Seriously, Hair and Makeup... supper out at a nice restaurant... a new outfit and a haircut? mmmmmm.
I couple of weeks ago, I got an unusual phone call... from a lady at Radio-Canada wanting to do an interview. Now, for you anglophones out there... "Radio-Canada" is actually the name of the French version of CBC Television. So even though there's "Radio" in the title, it's actually a Television station.
One thing the Francophone community is good at - is talking about and promoting arts, culture, community, and local interests. I really admire the way that Francophone and Acadian groups place such emphasis on these things, and offer many different venues and forums to keep these central values alive and growing.
Well, basically I got a phone call from Julie, the researcher for a Maritime francophone talk show - She had read the article in la Voix Acadienne last month, and wanted me to come over to Moncton to do an interview and talk about what I "do". They wanted to talk about Knitting, Spinning, my non-traditional materials for making yarn (aka dog fur, and Ruttiger), and find out how a (relatively) young person gets involved with such an old art.
The show is a 1-hour talk show, with skits, a house band, a musical guest, and 5 interviews. I was there with a varied crew: A Runner, a Dance Academy Founder, a Model Train Museum Enthusiast, and a singer with a new CD released recently. The episode is due to air on Sunday evening on Radio-Canada at 7:30 pm (8 in Newfoundland) and I am the last interview of the night. Also, if you don't get the channel, or won't be near a tv, the episodes are also published on the web and available through the Radio-Canada Website. For those of you who don't speak french, I hope to be able to do a closed caption thing someday and post the interview up here on JoboDesigns.... the techy husband will definitely need to help me with that!
