Banyan Tree Socks... one down and one to go!

Banyan Tree Sock Numero Uno

For Sock Knitter?s Anonymous this month... I decided to play along for the first time in about a year.  I used to try and work the mystery sock or KAL at least a few times a year with that group, but had fallen by the wayside when I was sick last summer with the pregnancy.  You are supposed to challenge yourself and pick something that you will learn from, etc.  I know these aren?t exactly rocket-science socks for me... but my main personal challenge is just to Knit.  Do a few rows here and there.  Make time for myself in a hectic day with a newborn, even if it?s only 10 minutes here and there, it does all add up.

One of the themes for Sockdown March was Cables... so these socks fit the bill!

Pattern:  Banyan Tree Socks by Debbie O'Neill  (available for free over on Ravelry)

Yarn:  Knit Picks Stroll Solid in Peapod

Overall:

- very well written, and a really fun knit!  I wanted to make something simple enough that I might actually be able to complete them within the 60 day time period... but not something boring.  Why is it that it takes me longer to knit plain ribbed socks than it does to do all over lace?  I figured this pattern would be just right... with a taste of leaf lace, some reverse stockinette, twisted stitch columns, and some pretty 3 stitch cables.  I started the second sock last night and finished the twisted rib cuff, and am into the leaves already.  I will definitely be able to complete these by the deadline of the end of April!  Now I?ll need to find a second pair to cast on!
